Day 02: Moc Chau to Phu Yen – Scenic Cycling Through Northern Vietnam

After a restful recharge at our resort, we’re ready to embark on another exhilarating cycling adventure through northern Vietnam. We leave behind the misty hilltop town of Moc Chau, known for its lush tea plantations and vibrant green meadows, to start our journey along asphalt roads leading us to stunning new landscapes. Our route takes us to a junction where we turn onto National Way 43, the scenic highway connecting Moc Chau to Phu Yen district. As we ride upwards, the landscape of northern Vietnam unfolds before us in all its breathtaking glory. The road gently climbs, offering panoramic views of misty valleys, rolling hills, and the untouched beauty of the region. The fresh mountain air and the tranquility of this remote part of Vietnam create a cycling experience like no other.

After reaching the summit and soaking in the mesmerizing views, it’s time to descend! We carefully check our gears before winding our way down the hillsides, passing through dense forests and lush mountain slopes, where traditional rustic villages dot the landscape. The natural beauty surrounding us is simply awe-inspiring.

We continue cycling, tackling a short pass before reaching the majestic Da River. Here, we’ll take a local ferry across the river, which adds a charming and authentic touch to our journey. Once we reach Phu Yen, we cycle along a picturesque, undulating road that hugs the rivershore, offering stunning views of the river and surrounding nature. Our ride continues until we reach Gai Phu junction, where we’ll pause for a well-deserved break. Recharged and ready for more, we hop back on our bikes and head toward Phu Yen, cycling through expansive green rice paddy fields that stretch as far as the eye can see. Day 03: Phu Yen to Lung Lo Pass – Tran Phu – Nghia Lo – Epic Cycling through Northern Vietnam

After recharging from your retreat, we begin our journey cycling through rustic villages en route to the breathtaking Lung Lo Pass. This area is home to a fascinating blend of ethnic minorities, including the Thai, Nung, H'mong, La Ha, and Ma people. We’ll stop for a refreshing drink and light snacks before tackling the second major pass of the day, Lung Lo Pass.

Lung Lo Pass, a key historical site, was once the target of heavy bombing raids during the Dien Bien Phu campaign (1952-1954), which aimed to disrupt the French troops' logistics and ammunition supplies. Today, the pass offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers and workers who protected this vital route during the war. At the summit, we’ll pay tribute at the Victoria Monument, a poignant reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of those who defended this strategic pass. After taking in the stunning views and history at the summit, we’ll continue our journey, checking our gear before descending through verdant rice paddy fields and lush forests. We’ll follow a winding road that leads us to the main highway, where we’ll stop for a well-deserved picnic lunch.

After recharging, we’ll continue cycling through medium passes, winding our way through forest-covered hillsides and rural landscapes. The route takes us to Suoi Giang, a serene location offering more stunning views of northern Vietnam's mountainous beauty. This day of cycling through historic passes, rich landscapes, and vibrant local cultures will undoubtedly leave you with lasting memories of the natural beauty and historical significance of northern Vietnam!

Day 04: Nghia Lo to Tu Le – Epic Cycling through Northern Vietnam's Majestic Mountain Passes

After a hearty breakfast at the Ecolodge, we begin a thrilling new day of cycling through the spectacular landscapes of northern Vietnam! Our adventure starts from a scenic hilltop, where we can admire the ancient tea plantations and enjoy panoramic views of the rugged mountain ranges that dominate the region.

Today promises to be an unforgettable day of cycling through northern Vietnam, with a challenging but rewarding ride. We’ll conquer a series of steep mountain passes that wind their way through the terrain, offering breathtaking vistas at every turn. The terrain is tough and demanding, but we’re ready to push through! We’ll cycle for 59 km along a rough and rugged road, passing through picturesque valleys, fascinating rice paddies, and lush countryside, all while surrounded by the stunning beauty of northern Vietnam's nature.

As we pedal through these stunning landscapes, take your time to appreciate the views and interact with the friendly locals who call this beautiful region home. The opportunity to visit traditional villages and capture photographs of the scenic surroundings will create lasting memories of this incredible journey. After cycling from the hotel, we make our way towards Tu Le, taking a well-deserved lunch break along the way. Then, we’ll continue our ascent for 8 km, where we’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Tu Le town and the surrounding mountains—an experience that will truly take your breath away! Once we’ve soaked in the beauty of the views, we’ll begin our descent into Tu Le town, where we’ll have time to unwind and relax. Take a dip and bathe in the rejuvenating hot spring stream, a favorite spot for locals and a perfect way to recover after a challenging day of cycling. The day will end with a delicious dinner and an overnight stay at a luxurious resort, where you can reflect on the incredible sights and experiences of your journey through northern Vietnam's natural wonders.

Day 05: Tu Le to Mu Cang Chai to Than Uyen – Cycling through Northern Vietnam's Stunning Rice Terraces and Majestic Mountain Passes

Today, we’re cycling through the stunning landscapes of northern Vietnam, tackling one of the most iconic mountain passes and visiting Vietnam’s National Rice Terraces Heritage sites. Our first challenge is the Khau Pha Pass, a challenging 25 km long climb through rugged terrain that promises to offer some of the most breathtaking views in northern Vietnam. As we ascend, you’ll be mesmerized by the lush mountain scenery, vibrant valleys, and the fresh air that fills your lungs. Reaching the peak will feel like an achievement, and we’ll reward you with some coffee, tea, and snacks to fuel up for the descent.

From the top, we’ll descend into Mu Cang Chai, a district known for its spectacular rice terraces, some of the most beautiful and well-preserved in Vietnam. Recognized as a National Rice Terraces Heritage, these terraces are built into the steep mountain slopes, offering a mesmerizing view of the cascading fields. We’ll stop to admire the views and explore three of the most extraordinary villages in the area, where we’ll get a deeper understanding of the local culture and farming traditions. The region is predominantly home to the H'Mong people, an ethnic minority that adds to the uniqueness and charm of this area. After a delicious lunch in Mu Cang Chai Town, we’ll have the chance to explore the local market, where you can experience the vibrant culture and traditions of the H'Mong people. Then, we’ll continue cycling along a scenic, undulating road that follows the river, taking in the stunning vistas of the valley as we head towards Than Uyen.

Upon arrival in Than Uyen, we’ll check into our accommodations and enjoy a well-deserved rest. After recharging, we’ll gather for a hearty dinner, reflecting on the stunning landscapes and cultural experiences of the day. Day 06: Than Uyen to Bao Ha to Hanoi – Cycling Through Northern Vietnam’s Majestic Mountains and Scenic Villages

After a restful recharge at the resort, we’re all set for an incredible cycling adventure today! We’ll start our journey by pedaling along asphalt roads, enjoying breathtaking mountain views and passing through quaint villages as we make our way towards National Route 279. This scenic route will take us through some of the most stunning landscapes of northern Vietnam, offering unparalleled views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.  As we cycle along paved, mixed, and concrete roads, we’ll tackle some steep mountain passes and navigate winding roads with sharp turns and hairpin bends, all while enjoying the picturesque rural scenery. The ride will take us through hidden ethnic villages and lush forests, allowing us to experience the rich natural beauty and vibrant culture of the region.  The route will eventually lead us to the bustling town of Van Ban, where we’ll continue our journey towards Bao Ha Town, where we’ll stop for a delicious lunch to refuel. After recharging our energy, we’ll hop onto a support vehicle to transfer the rest of the distance along the new highway back to Hanoi.

This final day of cycling will be an unforgettable experience, offering a perfect mix of adventure cycling, scenic landscapes, and a taste of traditional Vietnamese culture.
