Our first historical stop is Red Beach, near the area where the first U.S. Marines landed in Vietnam in 1965. We leave A Luoi by bike and begin with a series of gentle rolling roads through peaceful highland countryside. The route passes through small villages and traditional communities, with forested hills and valleys surrounding us on both sides. This opening section provides a wonderful warm-up before we tackle the bigger mountain challenge ahead.
As the road gradually rises, we enter a more remote and heavily forested section of the Ho Chi Minh Road. The long mountain climb winds through the spectacular Truong Son Mountains, with dense forest, dramatic slopes, deep valleys, and occasional panoramic viewpoints. By late afternoon, we arrive at Cua Tung Beach, a quiet coastal destination known for its broad sandy shoreline and peaceful atmosphere. After checking into our accommodation, there is time to relax, enjoy the sea views, and recover after another rewarding day in the saddle.

Day 10: Cua Tung – Cua Viet – Quang Tri – Tam Giang Lagoon – Hue

After breakfast at Cua Tung Beach, we begin the final day of our 10-Day Central Vietnam Cycling Tour with a scenic ride south along the coast. 
Today's route provides a rewarding combination of coastal cycling, rural landscapes, wartime heritage, fishing villages, lagoons, and traditional Vietnamese culture, bringing our journey full circle as we return to Hue.

We leave Cua Tung and follow smooth coastal roads toward Cua Viet, passing peaceful casuarina groves, aquaculture ponds, sandy coastal landscapes, and traditional fishing villages. The relaxed terrain allows us to enjoy the sea breeze and observe the everyday rhythm of life along this lesser-visited section of the Central Vietnamese coast.
Continuing through Quang Tri Province, we ride through landscapes that carry an important place in Vietnam's modern history. 

The region was heavily affected by the Vietnam War, and along today's route we encounter historic sites, rural memorials, ancestor temples, and traditional shrines that reflect the deep cultural and historical connections of local communities.

As we continue south, the landscape gradually changes from the coastal plains toward the countryside surrounding Hue. The route offers a fascinating contrast between areas once shaped by conflict and the peaceful agricultural landscape we see today, with rice fields, gardens, villages, and waterways forming the backdrop to our final cycling day.

One of the highlights of the afternoon is reaching the spectacular Tam Giang Lagoon and Dam Chuon, part of the extensive lagoon system along the coast of Thua Thien Hue. We cycle through quiet countryside beside the water, passing fishing boats, aquaculture farms, small bridges, and traditional riverside communities.

The lagoon scenery provides a beautiful final section of our Central Vietnam cycling adventure. Depending on the timing and weather, we may have the opportunity to enjoy the changing colors of the sky over the lagoon as the day draws to a close—a memorable setting for the final kilometres of our journey.

From the lagoon, we continue toward Hue City, following quiet countryside roads before gradually returning to the historic capital.
